Taking a break from the recent storyline suspense to show some sketchbook drawings. The top ones are character practice for the brother in “Boogers On Parade,” the bottom is a Brooklyn street scene.
If you are in Portland this weekend for the Stumptown Comics Fest, please come say hello! I’ll be tabling at D-6 (right by the entrance, I’m told) alongside my pal Sarah Oleksyk. I will also be teaching two workshops on Saturday, a comics for kids workshop and a girls’ comics workshop. This is nerve-wracking but also exciting!
Looking forward to seeing you there.
I Cut My Hair is in “Cyberspace”!
by Lisa on November 19, 2011 at 10:24 pmHello and welcome to the online residence of I Cut My Hair Comics! Thanks for visiting.
Some of you may be familiar with “I Cut My Hair” as a minicomic zine documenting my day-to-day adventures. After I published my last issue in the fall of 2010, I spent some time thinking about where I wanted the series to go next. I knew I wanted to change things up, maybe get away from the daily journal style a bit. There were times I considered scrapping the whole thing altogether, or at least choosing a different name.
What I came up with (after I decided to keep the ol’ title) was this website, where “I Cut My Hair” will become a series of different kinds of comics stories. I see this as a place to try new things: new storytelling styles, drawing styles, fiction, autobio, color, black and white, one-pagers, longer pieces. And a new page will update every week.
For lovers of the printed word: fear not, I will still be publishing my comics in zine form.
See you next week! Onward!
